The couple, who met in nursing school, invited over 300 guests to their outdoor ceremony in the remains of an old family barn foundation. The groom would spend his weekends leveling the ground, picking up rocks, moving old farm remains, picking up old metal....the groom's father built a gorgeous covered dance floor out of rough farm boards. After months of prep, the day had finally arrived....The sky was dark. 99% chance of rain that day. All day, rain. rain and more rain were predicted by the old weather man. The guests started rolling in. Some were full of giggles as they stepped towards the ceremonial grounds in their rain boots. Others seemed annoyed at the thought of their dry skin being exposed to the earthy bliss of a warm summer rain shower. That or their panties were bunched up in the back and they couldn't unbunch them. 90 year old grandma was full of smiles and twinkles. I do remember that. It sprinkled or should I say sputtered for literally 34 seconds as the guests were parking and bringing in their dishes to pass as the tables were laundered throughout the magically woods....the lunch was spread, eaten. The sky was getting dark...The guests carried their chairs to the location of a beautiful meadow, not far away. The ceremony started as the wind slowly started to blow. The groom stood confident that his God would hold back the rain. {to be continued}
